The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

macro for auto sending current workbook as email attachment
Tags: microsoft, Excel, 2003
Hello,
I need some help on excel macro or vba. I want to create a button in an excel spreadsheet. When user clicks on the button, it should send out an email with the current workbook as attachment to a fixed email address. Can some help on the function?  Is it possible the user doesn't have to launch his or her email system?

Thanks a lot.

Thanks! I tried the code but it didn't work. It didn't give any error when clicked on the button. It seemed everything went well cause there is message saying "the progrem is going to send an email on your behalf. Do you allow?" But i didn't receive the email in the email address i specified in code.

I am using excel 2003. I checked all possible errors based on the website but it didn't help. Any idea?

thanks,

k

Hi k

I use the procedure below in my weekly reports to auto email, but rather than call from a button I have it as part of my total routine. Should work for Excel 2000 thru 2007.
To call from a button, View>Toolbars>Forms
Click the button on the right under the "ab|" icon.
Draw your button, and assign the macro below - in my example "Mail_Workbook_Outlook".

This should now email the active sheet.

There are a few trouble shooting tips here:

Nick

Hi Nick,

I sent you a message yesterday with my excel file attached but somehow it didn't show up. Anyways, it was not working cause i didn't receive any emails in the specified email address. But today i received the email i sent through the spreadsheet 3 days ago. Is it normal?

thanks,

katie

auto email from spreadsheet

Did you send through a macro?

Once the mail has been sent - it is down to your mail server and the receiving server to perform, just like sending a normal email.

3 days is not normal for email (as you know) but the fact it was sent through excel could mean that it was waiting for you to open outlook.

If Outlook was not running, you will may need to force start it with

 Shell ("OUTLOOK.EXE")

in the code.

I have downloaded your file, and if your email client was not running then it would just be sent to your outbox, waiting for the next time you open your default email client.
I'm guessing this is why it took so long.
