The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

VBA code to have Excel insert records into a MySQL Database

Tags: vba, excel, mysql, database, charting, graphs, LAMP
Hi All,

I would like to import text and number data from a webpage into excel and then insert it into a mysql database one line at a time e.g. the data from the webpage changes every 30 mins or so and I would like to build a database of this data - I can do the first bit (import data into excel ;-) quite easily using excel 2007 but would like some tips on what method is best in terms of ADO, etc and also some hints at the code as I am not to hot with VBA.

Any additional info would be useful e.g. code to import back into excel based on date criteria however there is a tricky aspect to this in as much as the data will be collected over night so their will be two dates for the query to do the import.
e.g. the data will be collected from 9pm 01/01/01 to 6am 02/01/01 - and I would lilke to be able to pull the data back in the morning and make graphs or charts from it - someone suggested using a LAMP (linux, appache, mysql and php) server to minipulate the data once in the mysql database so any ideas and opions on doing this as apposed to using excel would also be useful.

Many Thanks

Mark

Hi - not clear on the following - little help pls...

for the sub insert below - should strsql = "insert into mytable myrows" be strsql = "[table name] [coloumb name] [coloumb name]"

 sub insert()
      strsql = "insert into mytable myrows"

however you would write the code within your database interface

chances are it would be something like this
assuming you have two columns in excel that you want the data entered into your database
cell A1 contains the first column you are woking with and
cell B1 contains the second column you are woking with

1:
2:
3:
4:
5:
6:
7:
sub insert()
   myval1 = range("A1").value
   myval2 = range("B1").value
   strsql = "INSERT INTO tbl_name (col1name,col2name) VALUES(" & myval1 & "," & myval2 & ");"
   call mysql(strsql)
end sub
