How do create an Anchor in a formula without using the keyboard to type in the $ characters

When creating formulas by just clicking on the cell location on which you want to perform the operation rather than typing in the cell address, is there a hotkey you can hold down while clicking on the cell to 'anchor' it in the formula?

I always have to create the formula and then manually type in the $ characters where necessary.
