The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

VBA Code to Extract Cell Content from a series of .csv files

Asked by sydodman in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software

Tags: , ,

I have several thousand files exported from a data-logger in a comma delimited format.  These files when opened individually in Excel always open in the same format so the data I need is always in the same cell.  I would like to create a piece of VBA code that will open each of these files, extract the data from a named cell and put all of these pieces of data in a single column in Excel.  The file names are always in the same format from the logger so I presume I need to construct a string variable using an integer within a loop to open each file in term.

Something along the lines of

For X = 5000 to 5005
  Filename = 009_"X"_AM02f1.txt
  Open Filename in worksheet2
  worksheet1.cell(a1) = worksheet2.cell(d7)
Next X

where a1 increments by 1 each time and d7 is the cell where my required data always is

The file is in the format as follows...

009_5502_AM02f1.txt

The 5502 part will increment by one each time a new file is generated.  For example the next few files will be as follows...

009_5503_AM02f1.txt
009_5504_AM02f1.txt
009_5505_AM02f1.txt

Any help would be greatly appreciated
