Question

Cannot view XL worksheet when XL maximised

i have an EXCEL 2007 workbook which contains a single worksheet. When Excel is maixmised (full screen using button max button at top right) then the worksheet disappears?! If I hit the Restore Down button the worksheet appears. What is happening here?

Is the workbook window maximized within the Excel application window? Can you reproduce the issue with any other workbook? If not, can you post the workbook?

cannot reproduce with other workbooks

it appears that whenever i open this sepcific workbook the worksheet doe not appear until i minimise excel then it appears with its maximise and restore properties I can then ma it or restore it down and all works  ok. on closing it never asks to be saved (i have only used the max and restore buttons at this point).

Thing to be aware of is if you copy this file to another PC it behaves normally. It is only on the one PC where it was actually created that it behaves oddly

Yes, that seems to be the case with me as well.

This sounds like a slightly buggered workbook coupled with a slightly buggered Excel installation. I ran the workbook though VBUser's Excel Workbook Rebuilder and it reported some errors in the workbook. I have attached the fixed copy - see if this version behaves any better.

Also check the Excel version. If not running SP1 then install it.

Modified file you sent me exhibits same behaviour as original. No change. Not fixed

Cannot see how to check version of XL. Am used to going Help>About but cannot see it in XL 2007?!!

That darned new UI!

Click the Office Button, click Excel Options (at bottom), click Resources. Version is last item listed.

easy to get to eh? Have sent it away to do a check for latest updates.......

it went away and aid ther ewere upgrades and I allowed the full install and now all appears well although strangely enough when i do the version check nothing appears to have changed

see before.jpg which i created before the update and then see the after. They both look exactly the same??

So you are saying that:

1) You applied the updates.

2) The problem no longer exists.

3) You can't tell if the updates were installed.

Do I have that correct?

I'm curious as well as to why the SP1 update is not listed. Based on my About dialog I would say you still have not successfully installed SP1.

you understand me fully
i guess when i searched for updates the search ony gave me updates for specific things and not SP1. I expected to see clear indication that there was an SP1 present but the jpgs do not show it and there appears to be nochange to version numbers. Will go search for SP1 even though the problem has now disappeared!!
