The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I get Find to work in Excel VBA?

Asked by LindaWeston in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software

Tags: ,

Due to a substantial break from using VBA I am now finding it really difficult to get back into it quickly and need to set something up pretty quickly for someone :(

I have a list of around 25 dates (range called "start_dates") in a workbook. These dates will vary according to whatever start date a user enters.  Once these dates are generated I need to set up a macro as follows:

I need to get the first date in the list, find its match in the workbook (could be on any worksheet, but there will always only be one match), then on finding the match, i need to insert a text value in a cell 13 columns to the right of it.  Once done, I need to go to the next date in the list, until the list ends.

I have been able to do the procedure in separate operations, but am struggling to automate the 'find' element and therefore include it in the macro.  I have included my code that works through the date list, but have added a comment where the find code needs to go. Can anyone help me with this please?

Thanks very muchStart Free Trial

Sub DateSearch()
Dim myFind As String
Dim Cell As Range

Sheets("Tables").Select
Range("start_dates").Select
For Each Cell In Selection
myFind = Cell 'this works fine and returns value such as '07/01/2008'
Here I need to find the one matching cell in the rest of the workbook and insert a text value in a cell 13 colmns to the right.
 Next Cell

 End Sub
