The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Excel Find Formula-need to find next instance where certain criteria is met in Vlookup statement

Asked by culpees in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software

I'm fairly new at complicated formulas and have been advancing as needed through necessary maintenance and upgrades.  I'm needing to vlookup something out of a pool of multiple possibilities. In some instances the data it retrieves (because of multiple records) isn't exactly what I want, but rather I want it to keep looking for the next record should the first record match a certain criteria.
Something like this...
If(Vlookup(C3,WellJobs,11,FALSE)="A Finished",--FIND NEXT POSSIBLE RECORD WITH A DIFF VALUE--,Vlookup(C3,WellJobs,11,FALSE))

The exact use here is in a report that will show all wells we have which are suffering a production loss. If the well is NOT included in a certain rig activity log (which would signify that we're already aware of the loss and have taken action) it will notify us of such. HOWEVER... if the well IS in the rig activity log AND had been marked "A-Finished" I want it to look to see IF the well is in the rig log a second time+ and if it maybe has a different status to see if there's a subsequent job for that well with a hold up that is preventing us from catching lost production on it. Otherwise, if there's no subsequent status on that well, to return "A-Finished" in that case.
