The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to add check system to see if file was automatically emailed from Excel (2003)

Asked by seriousnick in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software, Outlook Groupware Software

Hi Experts

I have written a VBS/VBA procedure invoking Excel (with a VBS script) to carry out a report then to email it (with VBA using CDO).
I am getting a bit caught up in how to confirm it was sent.

My thinking is that if I BCC to the system it was sent from, I could maybe add an event to the VBA whereby it waits say 10 minutes then checks the Outlook inbox for the email (using the sender and the subject as the identifier).
If the email is not there - then either - I could be notified (by email) that the email has not been found and then manually send it, or instruct Excel to re-send thus starting a loop until it is found in the inbox.

The fact that the system receives the BCC would be sufficient to confirm it had been sent I feel.

I know I could simply CC myself, but I would rather have a notification to say it hasn't gone rather than to say it has, as this is a daily report.

However, I am unsure:
a) if this would be a realistic check
b) how to actually do it
c) if there is a better/easier way

If at all relevant I am using the VBS to invoke Excel, but using VBA to close Excel.

Please, if ayone can help here - I would be most grateful.

Many thanks
