Is it possible to zoom in the background image on charts based on plot data ranges?

Hi all,

I have a map of the world and am plotting locations by geodetic coordinates onto it. Is it possible to have the map zoom in to a specific region of the world if there is only plot data in that area, sort of like a zoom fit option?

For example, there is a computer network that is only contained within the US. Instead of plotting the data on the background image of the entire world, the background image would zoom in so that it would only show the US.

The map is an Equirectangular-projection, so I imagine that the coordinates of the plot data could be correlated to the image size by scaling.

Any ideas if this would be possible through a macro?

Thanks,
