Excel VBA Search Form from range

In Firefox and IE7, if you are in a combobox, you can "search as you type". Consider a list
Aardvark
Anteater
Bollywood
Neanderthal

In IE, typing "a" then "n" ends up at "Neanderthal". (switch to N)
"a" then "a" ends up at "Anteater" (2nd "a")
In Firefox, typing "a" then "n" then "t" ends up at "Anteater" (how smart!)

With Excel picklist dropdowns, typing does squat (i.e. nothing).  I would like to be able to double click a cell that is attached to a picklist, and have a userform come up. That userform should have a textbox, combobox or listbox - any implementation - that would help the user quickly find/filter to get a specific item from a named range that contains 2000 entries.

Kevin old friend, you are a star. There are a few things I'm going to change but this is a great platform to start on - I just didn't want to start cold.  If you are wondering anyway - case sensitivity, double-click for picklist (I can't even scroll otherwise!), search directly in listbox (currently "Amy"+Enter in edit box "causes Invalid Use Of Null"), Firefox style incremental search (Microsoft default listbox/combo behaviour does stupid jumping around).
