The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution.   • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. how do I apply a formula to excel fields to change CR to pipe?

I am trying to change all CR (char(13)) occurances within an access table, into a pipe symbol.  I hoped that by exporting to an Excel spreadsheet, I could change all occurances of the CR in the field (titled 'notes') to a pipe symbol (char(124)).  I have over 16,000 records in the table, and therefore, I do not want to paste a substitute formula into each field one by one.  I would like to apply a formatting formula to the entire table's "notes" field, but not change any of my field delimiters, nor record delimiters.  Is it possible to apply a formula such as =substitute(*,char(13),char(124))?  I don't know if I can use a * as a wildcard in this type of formula, and I don't know how I would apply it to all text within the field "Notes".
