The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Excel VBA code: opening file, sorting data, saving file

Asked by jlove88 in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software, Visual Basic Programming

The code that is in the attachment is an extract from a routine I have written for creating a CSV file that is used to import data into payroll application.  One of the headers in the CSV file is Comp Co and it is important that the file is sorted by Comp Co.  Rather than sorting the data in the template where the rows of data have formulas, I am sorting the data once it is in the CSV file.

I have included the code that creates the output.  This is for reference only.  I would like assistance with the code that is used for sorting the data.

fname referred to in the code is comprised of:
fcomp = Sheet1.Cells(6, 4)
fbatch = Sheet1.Cells(6, 5)
path1 = Sheet9.Cells(6, 2)

fname = path1 + "PR" + fcomp + fbatch + "EPI.csv"

My dim statements are:
Dim fcomp As String
Dim fbatch As String
Dim wrk_fname As String

The code works as expected on my machine, however when my client tries to create the output, they get a run time error 9, subscript out of range.  I ran the routine remotely on the client's PC and established that the code stopped at "Selection.sort ..." (this was the part hightlighted).

Is the error caused by a different Excel version being used (I am using Excel 2003) or my lousy code?

Thanks.
