Question

User-defined function, where is this at in the menus?

Asked by: cogitate4u

Let me first rant about the hideous UI that XL 2007 has to offer. I can't find anything that was remotely familiar when I used XL 2003. I am trying to put in a custom getlink function into XL 2007 but I don't see any customquery option in the drop-down menu when I view all functions in the function menu.

I am trying to add a UDF that allows me to extract the hyperlink from a cell and drop that value into a specified cell.

Does this has anything to do with the default install of the software, or does this just not exist in the newer version?

In Excel 2007, if you put your UDF in a regular module sheet, it should show up in the function selector. You can access that function selector by clicking the Fx button to the left of the formula bar. You'll need to look under "User defined" as the function category.

If you put the UDF elsewhere (worksheet code pane or ThisWorkbook), then it will not appear in the function selector.

You can post your workbook as a .xlsm file on www.ee-stuff.com if you are still having troubles getting the function to appear.
