Try to open the file and repair it.
Use menu File-Open, select the file, but instead clicking Open button, click on the small arrow on the left of it and select Open and Repair.

Faulting application excel.exe, version 10.0.6832.0, faulting module excel.exe, version 10.0.6832.0, fault address 0x00023a89.
My other Excel files can be saved without any issue. The content is just a basic table with details to be entered manually.
Any assistance you can give is much appreciated.

Hi upul007,
have you tried to copy the contents to a new sheet/workbook?
Maybe just copying the data without any formulas and/or formatting information.
Are there macros included in that critical file? One that will be triggered by the save event?
