Help decoding outlook information in Excel

Hi

I am using Excel to create an e-mail register.
I want to extract the information from the e-mails and tabulate it which is fine unless the e-mail is a meeting request when the code I have doesnt work.
I can pull out the title of the mail but the time and date it was sent on throws up an error for a meeting request

Can you help please

WHat do you want to do ... skip the meeting requests completely?

If testObj.Class = olMail Then ...
to select based on a mail item whereas
If testObj.Class = olMeetingRequest Then
will specifically address meeting requests

ie

If testObj.Class = olMail Then
    'Do something that you can only do with a mailitem
elseif testObj.Class = olMeetingRequest Then
    ' Do something you only want to do with a meeting request
end if

What i would like to do is decode the information in the same way that i do for a normal e-mail message.
Strip out who sent it, who it was sent to (list of recipients), time and date.
The title of the message still seems to decode ok.

Two choices for you then ...

1. Use on error resume next, untidy and undisciplined but it will likely work for what you want easily
2. Use the if mailitem/meeting request construct to pick which fields are specific to a document type.

understood Chris but the problem is i dont know the code to extract the info i want from a meeting request.

Do you know the code i would use to strip out who sent it, who it was sent to (list of recipients), time and date.?

Who sent it:
    .organizer

Recipients:
    .recipients(1) through .recipients(.recipients.count)

Time and Date:
    Not sure about the sent date but the .crewationtime may suffice.
