I am an intermediate excel user at best.

In earlier versions you can use SUMPRODUCT, although you can't use whole columns so the following goes up to row 100, adjust as necessary
=SUMPRODUCT('MAIN DATABASE'!I1:I100,('MAIN DATABASE'!A1:A100=A2)*('MA IN DATABASE'!D1:D100="RECREAT IONAL")*(' MAIN DATABASE'!C1:C100=7))
