also make sure that file name.xls that you are trying to bring up has the .xls extension not .xlsx (you seem to be using excel 2007 from the screenshot)

I am using Excel 2007 because I feel comfortable using its tables and it has more features. What should I do to make it work. Also, I am constantly changing the file name.
Does the formula automatically check for my file name or do I have to manually update the formula every time I change the file name?

okay, try this...
add this function to your vba where the SheetNameFromCodeName function is
Function MyName() As String
MyName = ThisWorkbook.Name
End Function
Then change the formula to be
=HYPERLINK(MyName()&"#'"&S
(except change the b3 to whatever the appropriate cell is, of course)
