You can do that with a Pivot Table, like on the attached file. Let me know if it's OK for you.

Looks like you need to use a pivot table.

See attached.

I had to copy your data to a new file as I couldn't create the table within yours for some reason.

Thank you jppinto for your help. But I only need a VBA.

by: jppintoPosted on 2009-10-30 at 06:13:40ID: 25702577

Or you can use a SUMPRODUCT() function like you can see on the attached file.

What else do you need the VBA to do? The Pivot Table does what you have asked, ie produce a Subtotals Report on the Results sheet.

Cheers

You can automate the pivot table creation:

Sub MakePT()
    Dim pc As PivotCache, pt As PivotTable
    Dim wks As Worksheet
    Set wks = Sheets.Add
    Set pc = ActiveWorkbook.PivotCaches.Add(SourceType:=xlDatabase, SourceData:= _
        "Data!" & Sheets("Data").Range("A1").CurrentRegion.Address(True, True, xlR1C1))
    Set pt = pc.CreatePivotTable(TableDestination:=wks.Cells(3, 1), TableName:="PivotTable1", _
                                            DefaultVersion:=xlPivotTableVersion10)
    With pt
        With .PivotFields("User")
            .Orientation = xlRowField
            .Position = 1
            .Subtotals = Array(False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False)
        End With
        With .PivotFields("ER Number")
            .Orientation = xlRowField
            .Position = 2
            .Subtotals = Array(False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False)
        End With
        With .PivotFields("Currency")
            .Orientation = xlRowField
            .Position = 3
        End With
        .AddDataField ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Amt"), "Sum of Amt", xlSum
    End With
End Sub

Experts ..appreciate your time and help on this. But Can we prepare a report like the "Result" sheet? Or is there any procedure which will be preparing the same report after creating pivot?

I need a VBA ofcorce for this. Thank you.

by: roryaPosted on 2009-10-30 at 06:44:12ID: 25702847

There's not a lot of difference between the two. What exactly is wrong with the pivot table?

by: robhensonPosted on 2009-10-30 at 06:52:11ID: 25702917

Don't know about rorya or jppinto but my pivot table was on your Results sheet. Hide rows 1 to 3 and it was almost exactly the same as your table, with some formatting.

Cheers

robhenson: You are right and I am satisfied but then I need another step to export those line items in another sheet. I have to do further steps which i can not do with the pivot ..I need all those data in a sheet without pivot.

Please help.

by: roryaPosted on 2009-10-30 at 07:04:00ID: 25703030

Please elaborate - I don't see anything you can do with your report that you cannot do with the pivot table?

by: suvmitraPosted on 2009-10-30 at 07:11:11ID: 25703097

I need to have all the line items as i showed in the "Result" sheet. This Result sheet will be work as a batch uploader in my Oracle 11 ! environment.

So far I have spend considerable amount of time and effort to get my data in the "Data" tab in a much clean format. Now this is my last stage to prepare this data consolidated.

Oracle will not be able to pick up the data from the pivot..so we need to produce our output as I showing in Result Sheet.

Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

That's just a small tweak:

Sub MakePT()
    Dim pc As PivotCache, pt As PivotTable
    Dim wks As Worksheet
    Set wks = Sheets.Add
    Set pc = ActiveWorkbook.PivotCaches.Add(SourceType:=xlDatabase, SourceData:= _
        "Data!" & Sheets("Data").Range("A1").CurrentRegion.Address(True, True, xlR1C1))
    Set pt = pc.CreatePivotTable(TableDestination:=wks.Cells(1, 1), TableName:="PivotTable1", _
                                            DefaultVersion:=xlPivotTableVersion10)
    With pt
        With .PivotFields("User")
            .Orientation = xlRowField
            .Position = 1
            .Subtotals = Array(False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False)
        End With
        With .PivotFields("ER Number")
            .Orientation = xlRowField
            .Position = 2
            .Subtotals = Array(False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False)
        End With
        With .PivotFields("Currency")
            .Orientation = xlRowField
            .Position = 3
        End With
        .AddDataField ActiveSheet.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Amt"), "Sum of Amt", xlSum
        .RowGrand = False
        .ColumnGrand = False
