syntax on 2 vlookups

excel 2003
I'm trying to do 1 vlookups

Basically, If the first proves false do the other..

=IF(VLOOKUP(A2,Data!$A$2:$J$5000,2,FALSE) = FALSE," ", (VLOOKUP(A6,NonGreen!$F$6,2,FALSE)," ")

This syntax keeps coming on wrong ?

=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(A2,Data!$A$2:$J$5000,2,FALSE))," ", (VLOOKUP(A6,NonGreen!$F$6,2,FALSE))

Try This:

=IF(VLOOKUP(A2,Data!$A$2:$J$5000,2,FALSE)," ",(VLOOKUP(A6,NonGreen!$F$6,2,FALSE)))

Sorry my bad...

The formulas are in a sheet called "Input"
The data i'm looking into exists in 2 different sheets  "data" and "NonGreen"


On the "Input" sheet in typing values in  "A2"
so after entering a value a2
If the value I'm looking for does not exist in sheet "Data" then go sheet"NonGreen" in Column A starting in row 6

so....
On the "NonGreen" sheet
If it finds the value in say  A6  then bring me the value in that row in Column F6 and place it in Column K on the "input" sheet...

Is this what you meant:

=IF(ISNA(MATCH(A2,Data!$A$2:$A$5000,0)),IF(ISNA(MATCH(A2,NonGreen!$A$6:$A$5000,0)),"",INDEX(NonGreen!$F$6:$F5000,MATCH(A2,NonGreen!$A$6:$A$5000,0))),INDEX(Data!$B$2:$B5000,MATCH(A2,Data!$A$2:$A$5000,0)))

Try this instead of the last one I posted:

=IF(VLOOKUP(A2,Data!$A$2:$J$5000,2,FALSE),VLOOKUP(A2,Data!$A$2:$J$5000,2,FALSE),(VLOOKUP(A6,NonGreen!$F$6,2,FALSE)))

This bit:

VLOOKUP(A6,NonGreen!$F$6,2,FALSE)

won't work... ;)

This works:

=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet2!$A$1:$B$3,2,FALSE)),VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet3!$A$1:$B$4,2,FALSE),VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet2!$A$1:$B$3,2,FALSE))

Vlookup also won't work on this "VLOOKUP(A6,NonGreen!$F$6" it will need a range, that just points to a cell.

What range are you going to use on sheet "NonGreen"? Vlookup works from a range not a Cell...

This will give you the idea...
