The user is able to multi-select and then press a button to run some code that uses what is selected.
Is there a way I can change the formatting of an item so that the font colour goes red after the user runs the process. This is to show the user they have already selected the item.

The short answer is no, I'm afraid. You might be able to do something using APIs to draw over the screen, but I suspect it would be pretty complicated and, IMO, not worth the effort. What you could do instead would be to have another listbox and move the processed items from one to the other?
