filter date using excel VBA in sql 2005 express

hello to the expert,
I would like to filter date with variable in sql 2005 express using vba.
AND TCustOrds.RequestedDeliveryDate <= CONVERT(DATETIME," & filter_date & ", 102) "
It is not working.
pls advise
