Cannot populate Infopath drop-down with SQL data

Hi
I'm trying to populate an Infopath drop-down box with data from a view on SQL server but having a problem.
I am using an ODC file on my MOSS (Sharepoint 2007) site to connect to the drop-down
ie; using the Data Connection wizard and selecting the ODC file from the list of Data Connections (I have already verified that I can extract data using the ODC file in Excel so the ODC does work for that purpose) but it gives me the following error:

The form contains XML that cannot be parsed:
A string literal was expected, but no opening quote character was found.

<meta http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/x-ms-odc; charset=utf-8">

I'm thinking that the format of the file may be incorrect = any ideas?

I would try a simple test case with a test table of an integer and simple text field and try to connect via SP and InfoPath just to verify your setup.
Make sure you have some sample data.

You could also try connecting to the ODBC data directly in InfoPath just to make sure the data format and content is acceptable.

Lstly, does the Data display properly when viewed in SharePoint?

the actual data renders fine in Sharepoint - I think it is something to do with the format of the .ODC file as indicated by the error

I would verify InfoPath can connect successfully to the SQL data via ODBC as a test.

thanks - that hint set me on the road to resolviing the issue - I actually had to save the ODC file locally, thne convert and upload the ODC file to a UDC file in the Sharepoint data Connections library
