submit infopath form to subfolders in a sharepoint form library

Hello..
We have an infopath form running on moss 2007.  This form submits to a form library.  I have the url added in the main submit of the form.  However, we have now changed the form library to have multiple subfolders (by department). Each department only has write access to their folder.  How can I change the submit to look at the current folder they are using and submit the form to that folder.....or allow them to select the folder.

Have you tried creating a workflow in SharePoint Designer which moves the form to the subfolder after it's been submitted?

This can be done based on the department, using a dynamic string/variable.

Robbie...We have decided that SharePoint Designer is not a product that we can use because of the limitation of moving workflows after they have been designed.  We have a pretty complex testing, dev, production environment.  So we excluded Designer.
To probably your larger question about using a workflow...We probably could go that route, however, the ideally the users wont have write access to the main library.  So in my mind it would be nice if we could submit directly to the proper folder.

If you have a dev team, then programatically it's definitely possible. I'm, unfortunately, unable to help with this as coding is my weak point currently, hence the SPD suggestion.

There is a way to achieve just about anything with SharePoint though, so i'd pass this one to the coders to figure out.

Solved my own issue here....
To assist others....basically on the infopath form I already had a dropdown box to pick the department.  I created a submit data connection for each folder.  I then used the submit options and custom rules to add a rule for each data connection.  The rule basically looks and compares the value of the department folder and picks the data connection to use.

Hello,

I have nearly the exact same situation as you, only I haven't been able to successfully submit to a subfolder.  I can submit to the top level library without issue, but as soon as I change the submit options to point to a subfolder, the process says the form is submitted, but nothing shows up in the subfolder.  I have my rules on the submit to look for a department field and then send to that departments subfolder when the rules are met.   I'm not sure if I've got my data connection wrong or what.  I'm 99% certain the rule is good because it works when I send it to the top level folder.   Can you provide an example of what your rules and data connections look like?

Any thoughts or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I did some digging and determined I had the data connection pointing to an incorrect URL.  Problem solved!  It's working like a charm now.

While everything here was nice to read... nothing actually explained how to fix it. So here you go:

I was able to publish a form to a new Form List and it would open and allow people to use it, but when they clicked submit it never saved correctly. I wanted the form to save in a different document library and in a folder in the library.

So to get it to save to the library first I changed the Data Connection and in the SharePoint Form Library section I had put in the URL I copied from the page:

http://rwcsharepoint/HR/HR%20Private/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fHR%2fHR%20Private%2fEmployee%20Evals&FolderCTID=&View=%7b7B1D1549%2d668C%2d441C%2d9F69%2d4EA304E1B163%7d

That didn't work... So I removed all the garbage:

http://rwcsharepoint/HR/HR%20Private/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fHR%2fHR%20Private%2fEmployee%20Evals&Folder

That didn't work... So I removed everything:

http://rwcsharepoint/HR/HR%20Private

This worked and it published to the root of the Document Library. So finally I changed the URL to:

http://rwcsharepoint/HR/HR%20Private/Employee%20Evals

And it finally worked.
