Exchange 2010 vs Exchange Online (Office 365)? Pros/cons?
I am currently running an Exchange 2003 environment and have been planning an Exchange 2010 migration within the next few months. Someone in the office mentioned Office 365 to the CEO and is trying to push it on him. I am trying to keep exchange in house, but need to provide some beef to my argument.
We have around 75 mailboxes currently. If I'm guessing a $12/month account fee (not sure how accurate that is), that will be $32,400 for a 3 year period. That does not seem reasonable for me.
I'm also wondering about how internal apps on our network that use SMTP to send notifications will work if exchange is now hosted?
Others Pros/Cons?
Cons that I can think of:
- Loss of control of exchange
- Loss of security
- How will postini migrate?
- Pricing
- Relying on outside company for uptime
I'm just trying to get some general knowledge or opinions on Exchange Online.

Thanks for that info.
At this point, I dont see that there are many benefits to it for our business(minus taking some of the hassle off of me). I don't mind managing the Exchange in-house and the only reason I would pitch Office 365 would be for cost benefits that do not seem to be there either.

Its good as long as you have valid internet connection
Once the connection is down you cannot do anything
Whereas if its locally hosted at least you can share the emails internally
