Programming charts in PowerPoint 2007

Are there any options, other than OOXML, for formatting the new chart objects in PowerPoint 2007 (not the MS Graph objects)?  In VBA, nothing seems available.  I assume that the PowerPoint InterOp object model in C# is the same as the VBA object model here.
