PowerPoint movie plays in slide editor but not in slideshow

* PowerPoint 2007 SP2
* wmv movie file created with Windows Movie Maker
* movie file and pptx file in same folder

I insert the movie into a blank slide.
I can double click the movie in the slide editor (normal view) and the movie will play.
I start the slide show
When the movie slide appears, it will not start (just a black box - the first frame)
It doesn't matter if I set the movie to start automatically or start by clicking

What the heck?? #*@#$'n Microsoft!

Thanks Glenna!

That was a good suggestion, but it behaved this way on several computers.

I ended up creating a new PP presentation, inserting the movie onto a new slide and it worked fine. So I copied the other 50 slides from the original PP presentation to the new one. It must have been some kind of corruption in the original PP file.
