I will try uninstalling office 2007 and reinstalling it. Should I install SP1?

Browse All TopicsHaving issues with Powerpoint hanging then crashing when some users are editing graphs. Not all users who work on the presentation have this issue. Can't determine what causes some computers to have issues.
Have tried a fresh installation of Windows XP and Office but does not seem to solve the issue. Also tried swapping computers with fresh installations (but similar hardware specs), but did not seem to help. In the code section I pasted an error report from the Event Viewer.
Less critical but possibly related is that features of a graph or an entire graph occasionally "disappear" from view in Powerpoint and/or on a print out of a slide. Usually closing Powerpoint and reopening the presentation fixes this issue.

Microsoft has released a hotfix for this issue:
http://support.microsoft.c
It seems to work for some people and not for others but its worth a shot.
There is also a service pack uninstall tool you can download here if you just want to get rid of SP2 alltogether:

Thanks for the information about the SP uninstaller.
And you are correct about the hotfix -- it works for some, but not for others. (I didn't find out about it until after this post had occurred.)
Here's a link to a blog by an MS staffer that mentions SP2 as the culprit (the actual hotfix KB doesn't specify SP2 as one cause of the issue): http://blogs.technet.com/a

This is a known issue. It's caused by Service Pack 2 for Office 2007. Unfortunately, SP2 cannot be uninstalled. I guess you could uninstall Office and reinstall it and not install SP2.
Wish I had a better answer for you. I do know that MS is aware of the issue.
