Which PP version was the file you are trying to open created in? Was it 2003 (and therefore a /.ppt or 2007 as a .pptx ?)
Ok,
I'm sure you are frustrated with this situation, but I'm attempting to better understand what is happening, would you please provide some answers to the questions I've asked already?
From you original post I have:
- Error "No text converter is installed for this file" when you open a particular file in either with PPT 2003 or 2007
- The original file was created in PPT 2003
- All your OS and Office updates are current including the converter for PPT.
Does it matter HOW you access the file? IF you open the file from within PP do you get the error? AND/OR does the same error occur if you open the file directly (rather then through PP)?
I also posted (but don't see the message) was this file sent through e-mail? If through e-mail, was it .zip or sent as a .ppt? Or is it a local or network file?
Did either URL I posted provide any further information that is useful for you?
Does this happen with all your files? Or just this one? Are you the author of the file? Or are you modifing an exisitng file someone else created?
It may be the file itself is corrupt? :(

Does it matter if you open the file from within PP? (such as Run PP | File | Open | Select file
Or if you simply click on the file name?
Which version was the file created in? 2003 or 2007? And have you updated both 2003 and 2007 with the most recent updates?
