The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Add Project Server 2007 to SQL server on MOSS farm?

Asked by dmaxIT in Microsoft Project Project Management Software, MOSS-Sharepoint, SQL Server 2005

Previously, I installed Project Server 2007 with a licensed version, using one server for all Project services, and another machine for SQL 2005 databases.  It worked pretty well, except I could not get analysis cubes to work.  We decided that we would also want workflow capability of MOSS 2007, so I uninstalled Project Server 2007, installed a trial version of MOSS 2007, and tried to install Project 2007 again.

We got the error:
"Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s): Microsoft Office Server Trial Edition products may not be installed on a server with licensed Microsoft Office Server products.  Remove existing Microsoft Office Server products and re-run setup.  Correct the issue(s) listed above and re-run setup."

So, we obtained a trial version of Project Server 2007.  Same error.

I tried changing the service account identities, separating them, as suggested by someone here.  Same error.

I tried removing all traces of Project Server by editing the registry, as suggested by Microsoft TechNet.  Same error.

We wiped the machine clean, I re-installed the trial version of MOSS 2007 again, configured it, and tried to install the trial version of Project Server 2007.  Same error.

Is there anything else I can do?  How can I try installing Project Server 2007 on the same machine that holds the SQL 2005 databases for SharePoint?  Do I have to "add the server to the farm," if it's already in the list of servers?  What should I add to or enable on the SQL machine, if it only has been set up to be a database server?  Is it even possible to do this?

Is it really necessary to obtain a third machine to make this work at all?
