The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need Help - Microsoft Project server 2003 few questions ?

Asked by immipathan in Microsoft Project Project Management Software, MS SharePoint, Windows 2003 Server

I am trying to setup Microsoft project server 2003 as our scheduling tool for the internal employee.

I am trying to achieve some of below questions in project to automate our scheduling look more practical and nicer and management can get overall project idea of every task going in the company sort of master project.

"      Partial or unassigned tasks to more than one employee/resource without altering the duration of the task (i.e. CSI verification 80 hours of assorted tasks, only allocating resources to 10 hours of those tasks, 70 hours remaining or Kubota at 8 hours to John for 5 hours and Joe to 3 hours)

o      How can I setup above with multiple tasks ?

"      Parallel or tandem jobs in which a task starts soon after the start of another task (i.e. printing 100 of 500 books, trimming in bindery begins with the first 100).  Without identifying the same task as a different name.

o        How can I set one task to achieve above?

"      Given the structure of project in which each project is treated separately, an alert system which tells you that an employee/resource has been over allocated before the tasks have been finalized or at the time the work is assigned to the employee/resource.

o        i.e. John is scheduled in Project A from 8AM 8:15AM, and also scheduled in Project B from 8AM - 10AM (Again the possible solution was to enter specific times 10AM, 8AM, etc.)

o        or John is scheduled for 5 hours in Project A and 4 hours in Project B on the same day and is 2 hours over the available 7 hours in a work day (assuming in the scenario that the due dates are for the same days and the priority levels are the same) How will Project notify of this conflict?

"      A window or view that shows the employee/resource and the date they were allocated (current window shows accumulative tasks) a sort of view that gives overall idea of every resources that are in the company and project or task they are working on with gannt chart so that we can easily identify who is empty.

"      View of schedule for the day, per department or all, displaying who is working on what and when (or without specific times) for how long

"      And if any task or project is delayed for resources or interrupted how can I make changes to overall schedule to reflect new timelines in few minutes so resources dont waste time.

On top if some one can recommend an easy most powerful scheduling tool besides MS project 2003 will be great or can recommend me project 2003 or 2007 differences and goods and bads.
