Question

Excel- extract the text after certain symbol

Hi,
I'm trying to sort a list of email addresses by the DOMAIN NAMES. So I need to first extract the string after the "@" symbol in the email address.
e.g. if I sort the list ascendingly, xyz@aol.com would come before abc@yahoo.com
What's the syntax to accomplish this?

Please help.

Hi qianq
use this formula to extract the text before the @ symbol.
Make sure the number at the end is high enough to extract all the characters.
=MID(B3,FIND("@",B3)+1,9)

This question was awarded, but never cleared due to the JSP-500 errors of that time.  It was "stuck" against userID -1 versus the intended expert whom you awarded.  This corrects the problem and the expert will now receive these points; points verified.
