Hi,
When I make a printscreen, I paste it in MS-Word 97 and later on I Copy and paste from word to (e.g.) paint, the imgage quality is decreased badly.
Anyone knows why?

Wrong, but excellent.... :-)
I did not use JPG, Just plain printscreen, copy.
But inserting a bmp in word and the copy paste to somewhere else gives the same result.
Nice extra feature, in MS-Photo editor, When I create a new image and paste the copied image in here, it sucks. But when I paste it AS a new image (thus without creating a new image first) it displays correct. Both images have the same sizes and bithdepts.

The problem result from the fact that the image is scaled and compressed during the paste operation to suit the document settings. This can result in a considerable loss. My system being a dual screen high resolution system can create size and definition losses of 500% on an 8.5 x 11 sheet.
When I find it necessary to use partial captured screen images I will always paste them into Paint first (this is a memory intensive operation) and then select what I need to copy into a document. Once inside the document use the Paste Special, Picture option. This assures maximum resolution and minimum scalability loss and requires less memory and file space. The picture is then available for numerous documents.
When I need to use a full screen capture I first paste the image into a blank PowerPoint slide and the copy it back to the clipboard. Then once inside the document use the Paste Special, option "MS Office Drawing Object" this again provides the best possible results.

If it is a jpg then the likely culprit is recompression. As these image types get resized and resized the quality decreases because of loss of data. I am guessing the same applies here since it is being copied and copied again.
