I have an Excel 2000 file. I have a VBA script that will open another Excel document, copy and paste the contents of 4 worksheets into the current document then close the copied from document. After the copy the document properties registers 700K size. I then save the document and the size jumps to 6.5 MB. I then save it in Excel 95 format and it drops to 1.5 MB.
Anybody have any ideas what is causing this Bermuda Trianglesque phenomenon.
I would greatly appreciate some insight.

Excel (and word as well) change size unawares sometimes.
Many times enought use sava as .. and size decrease strongly (but not only save). I cann't explane, just experience. I had already difference in size more then
20 MByte without any significant change (and with same format). We must just accept it.

The properties are only updated when the file is saved. So if you're checking them immediatelly after the copy of the sheets and prior to the save it's natural that the value will be a lot less...
When you save to a previous format, Excel will probably discard some features that didn't exist in the previous version. So it's possible that will justify your file getting smaller.
