When i try to install Office 2000 Pro from the original cd, after i type in the cd key it tells me i have an invalid key.
I am absolutely certain the key is correct - i am typing it directly from the certificate of authentication. I am not typing in tthe windows key by mistake or anything like that.
I have tried installing both from my CD, DVD even over the network.
Always the same result.
Any ideas?

Off the wall thought, but.
Often an error with the Product Key can be a misreading of the Key Number.
A zero (0) can be confused with the letter O, other letters or numbers can be misread, too.
Since you have tried other ways to get this problem solved. Before throwing your hands up I would recommend a few things.
-->>Go to any other computer (i.e. a computer that is not the one you are having trouble with). Install the Office 2000 using the Product Key you have. If it installs there then you know the problem is with your computer installation. If it doesn't install, seriously consider that you may be inputting the Product Key incorrectly. And, after this test, remove the installation of Office 2000 from that computer.
Robert
Just to add to this, I recently also had a problem with MS Office 2000 Pro accepting a login key. I got the same error as saunaG above.
A reboot of the system did the trick, and the next try worked (after verifying my key a dozen times as I've been there before with mistyping something).
This means that either the reboot helped, or Office actually did not like that I had just renamed my account username, and had not relogged into Windows 2000.
Just some food for thought in case someone else looks at this question with the same problem.
