Hi dbase118
Thanks for your input - but in this case the same resource is assigned for the review meeting.
I would appreciate a workaround
Thanks

I have setup a MS Project file containing Programming and Design tasks for a software development project, I have one resource allocated for this project, all the tasks are performed in a sequential manner.
Now I have a recurring task (review Meeting) which occours every Friday from the Start day of the project till the End date of the project.
How do I setup Project so that it does not allocate Friday for any of the programming and Design tasks ( meaning it skips Friday for programming and design task)
Help appreciated.

Ok try this... From the Gantt...Go to Tools to change working time and click the new button to create a new calendar. Call it Programming and Design. Mark it as above with Fridays as non working time. This calendar is not associated with any one resource. Next go to each P & D task and double click. Go to the advanced tab and under calendar your P & D should now be an option. So essentially you are tying the calendar to a task.
This is not 100% (nothing really is in MS Project...PM's can allways overwrite the rules). However if any of the P&D tasks are attempted to be placed on Friday then the user will get an error message and ask them to confirm

Since the same resource is doing all the P & D tasks, you could go to the resource sheet and then select that resource and go to Tools - Change working time. In that resources calendar you can select Fridays and mark them as non-working time. However, if the resource in question is to be assigned to the review meeting, then this will not work.
There are some workarounds but let me see if I can find something more direct.
