Hi superchief,

I guess you went to help menu and clicked on "Activate" to activate it ?

I remember when i installed office xp after the last part of installation , a window came up asking me to activate and i activated it that way . ofcourse , I had firewall installed so i was sure it connected to internet to activate the product.

may be you didnot realize when that happened.

As long you got a new software from amazon , there should be no issue.
Make sure to hold to your receipts for that products just in case you are asked to produce

If Amazon sold you a CD with the corporate version of it, you do not need to active it. Corporate version do not have to be activated.

Just imagine, if you have the application to install on 150 PCs, it would be horrible to active each of them one by one.

OK if i have been given a corporate version of it, is it ok to install onto my machine? Is it legal, this is my main concern. If it isn't legal then i need to do something about it

by: Yan_westPosted on 2004-08-05 at 18:08:16ID: 11732231

if you have a valid key (Microsoft paper that proove it), with a valid cd (hologram on it, and all), you got your invoice and everything, it is legal. it is not your problem if it's corporate or not, and does not change a thing about the usability of the software

that isnt the case - read the EULA on your software - you dont own the software, microsoft does, you have a licence to install it ONCE
the only exeption is volume licenced software (and this has no activation)

by: thefritterfatboyPosted on 2004-08-10 at 04:02:13ID: 11761173

Product Activation is a scam. You should be able to install a product as many times as you want on the same machine. I format my machine once every 6 months and I have to ring Microsoft every time to re-activate my software as my PC configuration has changed.
