I have a large powerpoint presentation that I would like to turn into a training module. What I mean by that is I'd like a user to be able to run this presentation with a trainers voice added and possibly some extra simple animation added (arrows, etc). Also, the user might not have powerpoint loaded on their machine.
Does anyone know of any software that will help me convert such a presentation? Any suggestions?

This looks like really good information. I am waiting for feedback from my trainer to see if she has any questions before I close this.
I did have one question myself about the first option (saving with the viewer). It looks like this would be good for a CD, for instance, but not if they wanted to present the training on the web. The movie option, I think, would be the best choice if this is their goal. Am I off base here?

this should make you able to make a video file of a powerpoint presentation. which could be used on a webpage. otherwise saving the powerpoint presentation as webpage might be an option.

There are two things you can do, you can save your presentation as a PPS file. This will allow a person to view the presentation without PPT.
If you are loading a presentation for a speaker or set of presentations that will require quick switching between speakers, you can simplify the process by using the PPS extension. You can either save documents directly as PPS or rename existing PPT presentations to have a PPS extension.
The other way is to save each slide as an webpage, File / Save As / Change the extension to *.htm

Hello Steve,
If Im correct Powerpoint has the ability to add sounds etc to a presentation. and it also has the ability to set the timescale of the slide transition. based on the voice you could set the sheet transition interval. this will make you automate the presentation.
the next step you could do is save the presentation with the viewer. (I think it should be Package for CD, where you also might choose to store it in a folder)
this will include the powerpoint viewer.
another option is to export the powerpoint then to a movie or dvd
