Microsoft word files wont open

I have recently upgraded several computers in our network to windows XP from windows 2000 sp4. So far two users have reported problems with files that they are attempting to open using microsoft word. Everytime the user attempts to open up certain word documents office will lock up and you cant exit the program with ending the task.

This has to be some sort of incompatibility with Windows XP and Office 2003 because the operating system is the only thing that has changed and now they cant open the files. I have attempted to open the files from my machine (Windows 2000 sp4 with Office 2003) and the files open up without a problem.

So far for troubleshooting I have tried repairing Office 2003, uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2003 completely, and completey formatted and reinstalled a fresh OS and Office 2003 on one of the machines with the same problem.

I am stuck here and posting it out to you guys. BTW all computers are up to date with the latest patches and service packs for windows.
