Dynamic drop down in Excel

Hi,

Please refer to the url I gonna posted soon. Basically I want to have a dynamic drop down in Excel, where the drop down's value (2nd drop down) is depends on the 1st drop down's selection.

I had defined the "Name"

"Category"
=Sheet1!$B$2:$B$7

"SubCategory"
=Sheet1!$C$10:$C$19

as refer to the image, how can I create a dynamic drop down based on the 1st selection?

Please advise, thanks.

I need such design to ease the data entry for the end user.

this is based on the info in the link YOU posted ;-)
the trick is to name your ranges on your subcategories to the values of your categories.

Hi there,

Thanks, sorry to tell but this is not working for me... as you can see from snap.jpg, there is another "Book" at row 8 on "SubCategory", as from your example above, it's not able to handle the new entered "Book" in "SubCategory". Not mentioned that later I may have some new "Category" to be added on, so I need some kind of dynamic drop down here.

Hope you understand my requirement. Any idea can accomplish that? Thanks

I was able to resolve my problem by using Validation List like below:

=OFFSET(INDIRECT("Sub"&LOOKUP(D56,cate,D2:D21)),0,0,ROWS(INDIRECT("Sub"&LOOKUP(D56,cate,D2:D21)))-COUNTBLANK(INDIRECT("Sub"&LOOKUP(D56,cate,D2:D21))),1)

I will keep this question for another couple of days before I close it, and see how if someone can resolve my original problem or not.
