The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Paste Link Errors from Excel to Word 2003

Tags: Microsoft, Word / Excel, 2003, Paste link errors, Word cannot obtain the data for Excel.Sheet.8 link, Happens only occasionally
Hi there my good friends.  Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

My godfather runs a commercial appraising business and develops his appraisals using Word, Excel, and an appraisal program called Valuetech.  Valuetech is basically an input database that creates the appropriate Word documents and Excel tables.  He then paste links the Excel tables into Word using Paste Special | Paste Link | Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object.  Only occasionally he receives the following error: "Word cannot obtain the data for Excel.Sheet.8 link."  The file name changes according to which Excel file he is working on, but that is the error message that appears.

He is using Office 2003 with SP3 installed.  The files are located on his server, which is a Windows 2003 Server and domain controller.  His workstation is a domain member; he is a domain user; the server's data share is set for Full Control share permissions and Full Control NTFS permissions are set for all Domain Users.

The strange thing is that the problem happens only occasionally and only on certain files.  I know hard hard it is to give definitive answers for questions like these, but any help would be greatly appreciated.  He is a good man that works hard, and if I can help make his life easier I would love to do so.  Of course this problem tends to occur when he is on a harsh deadline (like today) and he looks to me for answers.

Now I'm looking to you.  Thankx guys (and gals).
