Hi Guys,

I have a weird problem with one of my users. He connects to our office network via VPN. He is able to log in and access the resources he needs to use. The problem is, every time he needs to save changes to a Word or Excel file that is on a mapped network drive, he gets the error message that the file is read only and that he doesn't have sufficient rights to save in that location. I have checked and double checked the permissions on the server and has given said user full control over the folder he is trying to save files into as well as the files themselves but this has not changed anything.

One thing I did notice is that when you check the properties of the folder, the read-only box is checked. I try to un-check it but it keeps defaulting back to read only every time I go back to the properties tab.

This has really got me stumped and any assistance is greatly appreciated.

The user has Windows Vista Pro and Office 2007 running on his laptop.Start Free Trial
