How to define in the XML Expansion Pack manifest file instructions to download files to a non-default directory location ?

MS Office 2003 XML Expansion Pack manifest file by default downloads the files defined in the <file> element at "C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Schemas\" location.

I am trying to get the files instead downloaded at a different directory on a different drive (say G:\Application Data\Microsoft\Schemas) which is a drive on my network. What do I need to define in the manifest file to achieve this.  I tried to use <installPath> element but it did not work.  My preference is to achieve this solution via the manifest file and not direct manipulation of the registry file thru msi package.

I am trying to use smart documents (MS Word 2003) technology & XML expansion pack.
