office 2007 file currently in use

Hello,
When I try to save a file on a shared storage using Excel 2007 or Word 2007 (in compatibility mode),
I often get the message "file" is currently in use, please try again later.
I have sufficient user rights in the folder.  I cannot delete the file on the server (2003)
Nobody else has this file open.
Only rebooting the file server helps, then I can delete the file.
