The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Access 97 Error - The command or action 'Paste' isnt available now.

Asked by jmutone in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Access Database, Windows XP Operating System

A little background info: I have a client who uses an old Access 97 database. They each have a local copy of the database that contains their forms, queries, and macros. They are also linked to the main database on the server which houses all the tables with the actual data.

The problem: One of their macros, although designed poorly and roughly (I am not very good with macros but even I can tell this is a very basic and bass ackwards way of doing a copy/paste), works on every computer except for one. On that one computer it gives the following error: "The command or action 'Paste' isnt available now." It is designed to copy a customer's Home Address from several fields above and paste them into their Billing Address below. I do not believe there is anything wrong with the macro because it DOES WORK on every other computer in their office. It seems to be a problem with this particular computer and re-installing Office 97 did not fix the problem. I also applied SR-2b and that still does not work.

Other thoughts: I am thinking there is something in the registry that is messed up and it not being removed when Office is uninstalled possibly. I have also copied over another local copy of the database file from a different machine thinking there was a problem with that particular local copy but the problem persists.Start Free Trial
