Question

converter failed to save the file

A collegue of mine is recieving the error message "converter failed to save the file" when trying to open a xlsx file.
He has Office Standard Edition 2003 and the Compatiblity Pack for the 2007 Office system installed.
The OS is XP.

Try changing the file allocations for the xlsx file types.

Go to windows explorer, find the aspx file, right click, choose open with and select Excel 2003 - then select the always use this program to open..... etc

Hopefully that will do it

On the office 2007 pc creating the file(s) does it have SP1 installed ... I have seen some suggestion that if it isn't then that is a problem for the converter.

The collegue now upgraded to Office 2007, which solved the problem. I think that is really might have been the SP for Office, as it was't installed.
