This is a pop mail account you only get OOA with an exchange account (or so I've read)

I saved the .oft template file to user templates. When an email comes in I get a popup which says: "Cannot reply to message"
Can anyone help?

OK... I may have an answer for you.
Here's what I did. I went to Outlook 2007 and used the help feature to look up help for Out of office template. One of the items it found was a link to a couple of canned OO messages. I went to those web pages and downloaded what was in effect an email to my PC. While the email was open I did a Save As and saved it as a template. Then I built a rule for any received messages to reply with this template.
However, when I attempted to implement this on incoming emails I got the same error as you did. I've found the following link which may help. The poster of the page has two solutions for what he considers a bug in Outlook 2007. I don't have time right now to try option 1, which is probably the "better" of the two, but I did try the second option and it worked perfectly.

If all you're trying to do is create an out of office message, why not just use the Out Of Office Assistant?
