You are not alone. We're also now seeing the same exact problem. Many other people too. Try Googling: Outlook is preparing the requested view
Yes, seems to be related to last weeks October 2009 Microsoft Security Updates and patches, notably KB973705. Outlook versions 2003 & 2007 both impacted.
As of yet no response or fix from MS. Similiar discussions occuring in the MS Community forum Outlook General Questions.
If anybody has any updated info on this topic, please let us know, it's a problem.
