Clearing recently used font selections

In MS Word 2000, how can I clear the recently used font list?
 Can I clear them idividually or do I have to clear them all?

Hi!

Prior to reading your question, I had never even considered this possibility in Word.  However, when I saw this posting, it intrigued me and I thought that if I could figure out how to clear the recently used fonts, then -- who knows?  -- maybe it would turn out to be a useful "skill" to add to my own repertoire for the future.

Well....  here's what I have found out so far.

I first found a very interesting article at:

This article mentions a registry value named "NoFontMRUList"

The article also has a link to Download "Support.exe" which will install a WORD TEMPLATE called "support" that includes macros that are designed to automatically change your registry settings for you to achieve your desired effect.

Well, I myself downloaded the support template from the link on http://www.kbalertz.com/kb_Q318796.aspx

I was able to install the template and open it and run the macro rather easily.  When you run the macro it shows you a little form where you can choose the NoFontMRU thing and set it to "true/on/enable" (something like that) so that there will be no recently used font list displayed.

BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT!!!!      (there's always a but)

the macro DID add the registry value that it was designed to add.  HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER....  that value will work for word 2002.

So, I went "spelunking" through the macro code to find out what the exact registry value location is.  It is:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Options

so once you get to "Options," then the value to add is "NoFontMRUList" and set it to 1

Well, in my registry I have a ...Office\9.0\Word\Options key, so I thought I would try adding the NoFontMRUList =1 in THAT location (Office\9.0\Word) RATHER than the 10.0 location.

So, I am using Word 2000, and I have successfully cleared the recently used fonts by tweaking my registry.

So, if you feel up to it, Dave, then your answer is to go to the following key in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Word\Options

and put in a new value (I put the value in as a string value or REG_SZ value)  name it "NoFontMRUList" and give it a value of 1

I will check back on this question in about 3 or 4 hours (when I get home) to see if I can answer any further questions.
