Placing Word docs into Pagemaker
For the first time in at least 2 years since I have been here the students in the Publishing class get this error " pagemaker 6.5 RTF import filter, v2.5 unrecognized character set" when they attempt to place certain Word documents into Pagemaker.
We run Office XP professional and Pagemaker 6.5
I tried updating 2 machines with the latest Office updates, same error. I also tried installing the original Office software on one machine, same error.
I have had some permissions issues this year with the Pagemaker installation, I believe I have resolved all of these permissions issues.
Any help is appreciated.

I haven't worked with PageMaker in quite some time (wow - not since its Aldus days). My only guess is the presence of some font that PageMaker can't handle, or maybe some non-printing characters hidden in the Word doc... Word can be a funny thing. Is the PageMaker software also newly installed (or re-installed)?
