Acrobat tiles Word 2007 background images

Hi,

I have an 8 1/2" x 11" background image in my Word 2007 doc - it's a png created from Photoshop CS3. When printing to Acrobat 8.0 Pro - the background image appears at about 1/10th the size and is repeated all over the page.

Does anyone know how to correct this?

Thanks Dawn - I don't have 2003...
In 2007 I inserted the image from the Page Color > Fill effects.

Attached is a screenshot.

Inserting a full image into the header seems very strang - I'll see if I can do that.

Any of the pictures that I inserted into the Page Colors, Fill Effects come into the document in a tiled manner. Including the gif you just sent.

Yes - same here.

Why do you think that's happening - I'm starting to think it's a bug in the way word is inserting the image...

I've tried every version of Word back to 2000 and found that they all tile. Word 2000 does not have the options for "Lock Aspect Ratio" like Word 2002, 2003 and 2007 do.

My guess is that the picture you are inserting is actually tiling, but because it is a large picture (# pixels) it is not tiling in Word, but Acrobat knows it is to tile, and handles the picture differently. BTW, I printed the Word document to PDF using the Adobe PDF printer and the document showed up as a blank document. However, when using the PDF XPS Save As feature and the Adobe Distiller, the image comes over tiled.

I'll mention the issue to Microsoft, but because I can duplicate the problem in the last 4 versions, I doubt that a fix will be forthcoming in the next version of Word. Maybe not even then.
